The Lord’s Prayer is something that comes to mind when most people think of prayer.
It comes to us from Luke 11:1-2 and Matthew 6:9-13
Jesus was asked in Luke 11:1 to teach us to pray…
Jesus said pray in this manner: He didn’t say to recite a prayer so the Lord’s prayer is a model of how to pray. In fact Jesus said in Matthew 6:7 NKJV
"And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words."
Prayer is sometimes referenced as a pipeline to the ear of God. Many times in the gospel Jesus went to spend time with His Father in prayer.
If Jesus prayed we should as well. There is great power in prayer and it should not be taken lightly We are coming to the creator of all things and the One who has the power to answer our prayers.

1What is prayer?
Prayer is an act that seeks to activate a rapport with God through deliberate communication.
How do we establish a rapport with anyone, we spend time with them, we begin to trust and open up to that person.
In a similar way we want to do the same with God.
2Why Pray?
Jesus prayed. If prayer was such a significant part of Jesus life it would be a good idea to make it a part of ours. The amazing thing is God wants to hear from us!
3Why should we avoid simply continuously repeating the Lord’s prayer (Our Father)
When we are repeating something it may not be coming from the heart. God desires a relationship with us so let’s be completely transparent with our interactions with God through prayer. He already knows everything so why not put it all out there and make our requests known and speak from the heart.
